How to lower starting lag time for DSL users
I know, that most of you feel that the computer hangs for a while, upon boot up. The most probable reason is that windows is searching an ip address for your computer. This issue has been a problem, especially with DSL users. Hence, today, I am here to solve your problem.
First step is to go to run->cmd
And, type in ipconfig/all (You should be connected to the internet before doing this step)
The ip address of the connection would be revealed. Now, what you have to do, is to go to network connections (Which could be found in your control panel, classic mode) and right click on your LAN network.

As for mine configuration, as you can see in the CMD, mine
lan ip/tcp settings should be the following:
For Ip address, it should be
169.254.78.185 and the subnet Mask will appear automatically as
255.255.0.0
As for the DNS server stated just
below the IP address/Subnet Mask, it should be for the primary:
165.21.83.88 and for the secondary, 165.21.100.88 These are the
TCP/IP settings for the LAN connection. Please take note that
the PPP adapter or any other stuff, do not need to be touched. And your lag time
should be significantly reduced.
